Porto Koufo is the place of choice if you are looking for a milder climate. Based in the North of Greece it is the departure point for less beaten routes, but still impressive for the beauty and history. Very close to Mount Athos (where monasteries and books are 1000 years old, but where unfortunatly women are not admitted) the sea water is so clean the it still produces the precious variety of red coral.
